Remembering Travis Blake and helping those affected by suicide.
Remembering Travis
Travis was the kind of person who could light up any room he walked into. He had an unforgettable sense of humor, loved making people laugh, and always knew how to bring a smile to someone’s face. He had a huge heart, cared deeply for his friends and family, and truly enjoyed the simple things in life.
He loved being outdoors — hunting, fishing, mudding, doing burnouts, and making memories with the people he loved most. Travis lived life loud, adventurous, and full of laughter. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, and his memory continues to live on through the people who love him and the mission created in his honor.
Our Mission
After losing her brother Travis to suicide, Danielle attended the local Out of the Darkness Walk in remembrance of him. Surrounded by others who had experienced similar loss, she realized she needed to turn her grief into something bigger — a purpose, a community, and a way to help others feel less alone.
Shortly after, Danielle, alongside friends and family, organized the very first Burnouts for Travis Ice Fishing Jamboree to honor Travis’s memory while raising awareness and funds for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. What started as one small community event quickly grew into a larger mission centered around mental health awareness, advocacy, remembrance, and hope.
Since then, Danielle has continued dedicating herself to the mission of suicide prevention by joining Wisconsin’s Board of Directors for AFSP and serving as the Chairperson for the Milwaukee Out of the Darkness Walk. Through Burnouts for Travis, she hopes to continue creating conversations around mental health, supporting those affected by suicide loss, and reminding others that they are never alone.
Our Partnership With AFSP
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Through research, education, advocacy, and support for survivors of loss, AFSP works to create a culture that is smarter about mental health and stronger in its ability to prevent suicide.
AFSP funds critical scientific research, provides educational programs to communities nationwide, advocates for mental health and suicide prevention policies, and supports individuals and families impacted by suicide. Their mission is rooted in the belief that suicide is preventable, and that no one should struggle alone.
What can I do to help?
The most important thing you can do is simply show up for the people around you. Mental health struggles are often invisible, and you never truly know what someone may be carrying behind closed doors. A conversation, a check-in, or simply reminding someone they are not alone can make all the difference.
At Burnouts for Travis, our mission is to raise awareness, create community, and support the lifesaving work of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Whether you attend an event, volunteer your time, become a sponsor, share our mission online, or make a donation — every action helps us create a louder voice for mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
Together, we can break the stigma, start conversations, and remind people that hope is always worth fighting for.
WITH YOUR HELP WE HAVE RAISED OVER $75,000 FOR AFSP!

“We're not alone when we're in the great outdoors
We got his spirit, we've got his soul
He will guide our steps, he'll guide our arrows home
His restless spirit forever roams”
